I bet you are all gearing up for summer break and making plans for vacations, beach time and just fun in the sun!!  FDC is here to make your summer planning super easy and fun for the kids by offering summer camps and classes from June 26th through August 3rd.  That’s a whole six weeks of something to do for the kids.  We have posted signs everywhere in the studio so that you can see the great things coming to you this summer!  AND – if you register and pay in full for any of the full day camps by April 14th you will receive $25 off!  That makes our summer camps a great value.  Just look at what we have to offer – intensives, classes, and clinics – don’t let your dancer fall behind on technique or flexibility by missing 6 whole weeks of dance! Sign up now to help them progress and start fall  off solid.  Our most popular camp so far is Moana’s Magical Adventure themed toddler camp.  Miss Katrina will be doing fun crafts like building a boat with popsicle sticks and each child will receive a grass skirt and red sash JUST like Moana wears!  So, call now because there are only 8 spots left for this fun filled week.  FDC is also bringing Aerial Arts with Silks to the schedule this summer with two workshops in July for ages 10+.  Aerial Silks is an exciting art form that develops strength, flexibility and fitness while climbing, twisting and dropping on silks hanging from the ceiling.  If you want a challenge, take the Aerial Arts with Silks workshops.  By popular request, we have added an Acting class this summer.  But first, we will be hosting an Acting Workshop on Saturday, April 29th from 11:30 to 12:30 for ages 5 – 10 for just $15 and another class from 1 – 2:30 for ages 11+ for just $20.  These will be great classes to get your dancer to emote better and show facial expressions on stage.  We have a great summer lined up for you with all kinds of new things to try so get on your feet and get to FDC to make your summer DANCERIFIC!!!

Our Dance team is one fire with two competitions this month.  Come out and support our dancers at these local events which are free to observe.  If you are interested in joining our teams next year, this is an awesome opportunity to see what is involved with competition.  FDC rocks team spirit!!  Don’t forget!!!  If your child is on Dance team, Performance team, or Ballet Company we have two opening number rehearsals scheduled this month. Please see the dates at the top of this newsletter.

What happened with the commercial we filmed?  I wanted to thank all of you for working so hard to represent FDC with so much pride.  The footage is still being reviewed and edited for our use.  It will be mainly used for our website and promotional purposes.   We will let you know when the exciting release day happens.  Check this out – we also had a new beautiful website designed with tons of information about Fusion.  Please take a look and bookmark our site.  The NEW web address is www.fusiondancenow.com.  You have probably noticed that we are implementing some new marketing campaigns to create knowledge and excitement about Fusion Dance Company.  We are very happy about our new marketing plans and hope to load the studio up with new families this summer for you to welcome.  We have the BEST families in town!

Just last weekend some Fusion dancers were among thousands of people at the Tampa Bay Pride Parade to offer a dance tribute to the survivors and victims of the terrorist attack at the Pulse Club in Orlando with our competition dance, PULSE, choreographed by Mr. Jay.  We were invited to perform this special tribute after people saw the dance at our showcase and called the Pride Director to ask us to perform.  The girls began dancing for the tribute and the entire crowd went silent, and then tears flowed from on-lookers faces while they cheered for our team.  Some actual Pulse survivors were in attendance and these ladies really touched their hearts that day.  It was such a fulfilling experience for the girls to be a part of something so special.  Our dancers got photographed with the Mayor of Tampa, several magazines and lots of people in the crowd.  We are so proud of our PULSE team and Mr. Jay for representing our studio so eloquently.

They Got Mail!!  Yes, this month several of our dancers received great news in the mail after many of them auditioned for some very prestigious summer programs. We are so proud of our dancers and we encourage them to audition for anything they can to gain performance experience. Congratulations to Breanna and Brittney Lavrich, Danielle Carvella, Collette Boisvert, for auditioning and being accepted into FSU’s summer dance intensive!  In addition, Brittney and Breanna Lavrich, Ashlynn Cole, Danielle Carvella and Madison Ducharme were accepted into Joffrey’s summer intensive for Jazz/Contemporary and Ballet Program with their choice of NYC, L.A., Atlanta, or Miami!  Collette Boisvert received a partial scholarship to Joffrey’s Summer Ballet intensive in NYC, LA, Miami, or Atlanta; and Congrats to Danielle Carvella and Breanna Lavrich for being accepted into Alvin Ailey’s prestigious summer intensive in NYC!   WOW!!!  That’s a lot of talent and dance scholarships for just one studio.  This is why I do what I do – whatever path you take, I support you.  I couldn’t be more proud of these girls for getting out there and hitting the pavement like that!   Girls, the world is your oyster!

Our girls also performed at Evening Extraordinaire at Innisbrook Resort for Entertainment for the Greater Palm Harbor Chamber’s huge annual fundraiser. They mingled and helped Miss Diana teach a swing class for their Big Band themed Gala. We love getting into the community and helping out. If you know of any events needing entertainment, please let us know because we love to perform wherever we can so we can help spread joy!

RECITAL IS COMING!!  Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our end of year recital, Seasons Change, on June 10th.  We do have copies of the Recital Handbook and Shoes and Tights list at the lobby desk if you need them. Otherwise, find them on our beautiful new website. PLEASE  take time now to go over the dates for recital pictures, rehearsals, etc.  We want to make recital a smooth performance and we want you to be informed.  If you always drop your student off and don’t come in to the lobby, everything we do is listed on Facebook or the website or in these emails.  Please be an involved part of your dance home so we can have a successful event.  We will soon have a volunteer book out on the lobby desk for sign ups.  Check that Shoes and Tights list now and get your items early because every dance studio in the area is also having their recital in June and items we need may go out of stock and then you won’t have it for recital picture week, which is May 15 – 18th during normal class hours. The only places you can buy the required shoes and tights is Attitudes in Largo or Dance Tampa in Tampa.  There is nothing close by that carries the brands that we need for recital.   We want you to have a stress free recital experience.  May will be a busy month and it is  only a month away.   So Spring to your feet and let’s get the show on the road . . .

By the way:

If April Showers bring may flowers, what do may flowers bring?  First person to the front desk with the correct answer gets a surprise.
